A video which I felt accurately represented what we saw at the Bodies Exhibition when it was on display at the Rosslyn Dome. As words cannot describe what we saw and we were not allowed to take pictures, this YouTube video is the next best thing to having actually been there. Not is it an enlightening experience for those who do not necessarily understand how the body works, it is also a great chance to renew your sense of appreciation for the intricacies of the human anatomy. For those that have not been but are given the opportunity to do so in the future, I highly recommend the exhibition.

Hey, it’s those weird slightly disturbing preserved people. I remember watching a video about them during Medical Society… I think it was… Gunther von Hagens who invented plastination? That was pretty interesting. Are we going to watch more of that video with him performing an autopsy, and if not, could you please send me the link to the series? Thanks!

I remember last year the only time I came to medsoc, we watched this video of some european guy dissecting a dead body? He was really rough with it too he just kinda yanked out the brain with liike the whole spinal cord behind it. It was cool though =)

The European guy dissecting the dead body’s name is Dr. Gunther von Hagens. He developed the Body Works exhibition and is considered a controversial anatomist. I also found it interesting how he yanked out human organs in such a rough way, and I think this may be a reason for him being considered a controversial anatomist, among other reasons including legal accusations regarding his title as “professor”.
